                Personal Balance

"Seek a Balance in all things and Discover the Harmony and Peace that is Life, as Designed by Nature"

Before one can discover something, they must understand what it is they are looking for. Personal Balance is what is required for a person to to be able to like themselves, to enjoy the peace within and be able to live in Harmony with their surroundings. To accomplish this the mind, body and spirit must be a complete package that will enhance each other and remain in Balance.

Trying to achieve a personal balance is simply this; Take an inventory of the needs required to obtain a substantial and comfortable life and what provisions are available to achieve this. Doing this will allow you to know the foundation that you can build on to acheive your own personal balance. (It is much like building a house, one must first lay the foundation. If your foundation is for a two bedroom home (even though you would like to build a mansion), the final product of your labor will be a two bedroom home.)The foundation of personal balance is to understand ourselves. (What are your inner feelings, are they mostly good, what brings you peace, what are your limits and your goals, what excites your spirit and mind, what are your physical, mental and spiritual limitations, what are your fears and how can you over come these?) How do we understand ourselves?

 Foundation:

The best place to start to understand ourselves is to know and accept our present limitations (these will change as we grow and achieve balance). Trying to acheive anything that is beyond our personal limitations (Physical, mental or spiritual), will create nothing more than unhappiness and disappointment. Take for example, the younger child that is watching older teenage boys play basketball. He is inspired as he watches the team members run, dribble, throw a perfect pass to team mates, make the jump and half court shots and the ease at which they control the ball. The small child is determined to be just like them, but after the game is over and he goes out onto the court, things just do not go well. He finds that it is hard to dribble, when he throws a pass it does not go far enough and is not accurate. When he tries a simple free throw shot the ball does not even hit the backboard. And, the attempted jump shot is out of the question because the hoop is way to high and out of his reach. Even though in years to come the small child will grow and achieve all that he has failed to do now, for today he is one unhappy and disappointed lad. Such is life and until we understand our limitations and how far we can reach today, everything seems beyond our reach. Know and accept your limitations and do not fear them or hide from them. Find the balance of that limitation. (A 300 pound man will find it hard to run the hurdles, but he may very well be a world champion wieght lifter or chess Master) For every limitation there is a quality that brings balance.

To be able to understand and accept your personal Qualities is as important to finding our personal balance as is  the understanding our limitations.

Much is said about the beauty of a person and our present day society seems to be based on the general opinion of who is and who is not pretty. Remember, that anothers opinion is just that, their opinion and nothing more and of little importance in ones quest for personal balance. Are you comfortable with yourself, this is the important factor. Look at all aspects of who you are and rate yourself, starting with where you are now compared to where you would like to be. Are you intelligent? Can you feel comfortable while carrying on a conversation? Does your heart have more  compassion, peace and humanity than anger, resentment and selfishness? Do you go out of your way to extend a helping hand, to listen to another or to simply give a warm smile? All of these are examples of the true beauty of a person, that being their inner beauty. (The ability to consider the needs of others, to share their loss or pain and to offer unselfish assistance has somehow been all but lost in todays society.)

Compassion is only one of the ingredients required to form a good foundation for our personal balance. Add to compassion, the understanding of our limitations and our qualities, mix them with our spirit (will, desire and ambition) and we now have our basic foundation on which to discover and build upon to achieve our personal balance.

Some other qualities that comprise our personal balance are:

Curiosity (The desire to know); This quality is usually overlooked and is often considered more of a pain in the buttocks. There is nothing wrong with curiosity, ask your questions, seek knowledge and discover answers.

Confidence and conviction (belief in ones' own abilities and the strength to stand on this belief); This is not to be mistaken as arrogance (which is not a positive within personal balance), rather as self-assurance.(which is the mold that will shape your personal balance and enhance your individuality.)
