This philosophy is designed to bring balance into one's life such as in nature's Design.

                   Philosophy of Dak~Tien

THE BASIC PHILOSOPHY:

Understand and Respect Natures' Laws. Know and accept our natural limitations. Understand and accept our roles in life and our responsibilities. Understand and seek the balance in all things.

The philosophy is pretty simple just follow nature's lead. Everything in nature has one thing in common ~ the needs of A/all to survive; are dependent upon everything else around them. Nothing stands alone.

A tree needs soil and water. It's seed have to be carried by the wind, birds and animals, so that the species can continue and grow.

Without the tree no other species will survive. Birds will have no nest, ground dwellers no shade, no food for the squirrels and, yes, no air for us to breathe. Nature has designed everything within its realm to be dependent upon something else. This is the Natures' Law and it is a law that is unique. Unique because, for it to work, there has to be Balance of all thing, at all times.

To obtain a "Balance"...One must first fully understand what is at both ends of the spectrum. When a "Balance" is the primary goal, all aspects of Our Life become more of a "Gentle Walk", rather than an "Exhausting Race".

BALANCE:

Basic needs must be met or the species ceases to continue. Look around you and understand that everything, the fish, flowers, birds, animals, trees, insects and human beings, must depend on another for their very existence. Each needs something that they themselves cannot provide. Each is dependent upon something else to give and fulfill its needs.

Balance, although critical and the rule of nature, is very fragile and delicate. Overset one end of the scale, more need than there is supply or more supply than there is need, and the species ceases to exist. It is in this way that nature has guaranteed the importance of each and everything on the planet. Nothing is more important than the other and nothing is less important than something else. This is basically simple to see. You have to get out and look around. When you look (say at a tree), see more than just a tree standing there, reaching up to the sky. See what it provides. See what it needs. See and understand the balance of nature before you, the harmony it provides and the peace that is given to all.

If you are going to have harmony, if you are going to find peace, if you are going to survive, everything around you and within you must be in BALANCE!

Of all the creatures, species, living things, organic and non-organic, on this planet, mankind is unique with the ability to form conscious thought and the ability to reason. We have to wonder why this is.

It would seem that with this unique quality we would be superior, "God-like" but yet, nature has balanced this by making our very existence so dependent upon everything else on the planet, as if to humble our ego. Where would we be without water, without the greenery, the foliage, the flowers, the trees and the grains? Where would we be without the animals? We wouldn't! So again, nature strives to bring equality to each. But, at the same time, nature balances that equality and dependence with something unique called "Individuality."

INDIVIDUALITY:

No two things are alike on this planet. No two rocks, no two snowflakes, no two trees, no leaves, no flowers and no two people. We are all uniquely different. We all have our own characteristics and this is done for a reason. If we were all the same, we would cease to exist. Genetically we have to have a mixture to survive as anything more than "clones." Individuality was given to us for a specific purpose. With mankind that purpose is, each of us can look at a tree, or a flower, or a bird, or a cloud in the sky and we each will see something different. Then, when we try to explain that which we saw, each will explain it differently. A person can tell fifty people the exact same thing and the majority of them will interpret what was said differently!  This, is not by accident, this is a way of balance. The more eyes that look upon something with a different perspective, the more ideas, the more thought and the more learning that will be done. Nature has given us a superior developed brain. Something to think with and reason, not to just to react with our instincts, not just to react to our environment. but, to think and form a conscious thought and opinion. By doing this we can reason and understand the difference between right and wrong and react accordingly. This ability to form a consious thought and to reason is unique only to our species.

In order to maintain the balance of nature's order, we have to ensure that this balance is kept within ourselves. Not just around us. Not trying to control the animals and the growth of the trees or the direction the river flows! Before that can be done, we have to control ourselves. We have to know and understand ourselves. We have to be able to look inside ourselves and find the balance within. Each and every one of us must maintain this understanding. We do this by understanding the three things that make us who we are and how to find the balance of each. The Mind, The Body and The Spirit are what determines or own individuality.

(1) The Mind

From the time we are born, when we take our first breath, until the day we die, we are experiencing a learning situation. That is our purpose, to learn, to seek knowledge; all knowledge. We learn by mistakes, by trial and error, we learn by observing and we learn by listening. We can teach each other, we can make examples. This is all part of the learning process and the development of our minds. A strong mind, one that can reason and look into something and see more than the just a tree, is why we are given this gift!

(2) The Body

Our body is unique. We have mobility. Like many of the other species on the planet, we can travel. But, with our ability to reason, using our mind, we can overcome the barriers that surround and contain every other species on earth. A polar bear cannot survive in the desert, and a lion cannot survive in the arctic. A bird cannot fly in the water and a fish cannot swim in the air. But mankind, using the ability to think, to reason, to process our thoughts, to ask questions, to find answers, and seek solutions, is not bound by anything (nothing on or off of this planet becomes a boundary that we can not over come). We have our own environment within our mind and body. A healthy body requires the right nutrition, exercise, stimulants and rest. All must be in balance.

(3) The Spirit

We are not talking about a religious spirit here; we are talking about will, desire, and ambition.  Each individual possesses will, desire and ambition, but each is different. Our will, our desire and our ambition must be maintained in a constant balance with reality. Our needs must be in balance, not our wants, our needs. If this is done, if the mind is constantly stimulated, constantly seeking knowledge, asking questions, looking for answers, working out solutions and if the body is maintained healthily (proper nutrition, proper water, exercise and rest) and, if the spirit (the desires, the will and ambition) are all kept on a level plain, balanced with each other, then what we have is Harmony and an inner peace. We then join and become the gaurdian of Nature (all that was, all that is and all that will be).

This is the Philosophy of Dak~Tien.

              Dak~Tien Philosophy

Adapting the Dak~Tien Philosophy to Modern Life

The Dak~Tien Philosophy is simple enough to understand, but for many, it is confusing as how to apply it to our "modern day lives" and to the Dominant and submissive lifestyle of today. Can a Philosophy that began in a time when there were no cities, no modern conveniences and super malls, possibly be able to apply to our lives today? Can a people that live in a world of cement, high rise complexes and super highways possibly apply a philosophy that was born to a primitive people who lived in a jungle?

The answer is yes we can, but this is only possible if we set aside all the distractions of our modern day society and look at the basic goal of the Philosophy, and that goal is to achieve a balance in all things. Balance is all around us. It does not matter if we live in the high rise cities, on a farm or any where in between. Modern society could not exsist if there was not a balance. The high rise complex is built on a perfect balance or it would topple and fall. The farms would fail and the crops would wither away, if the land was not kept in balance by the farmer. There would be no super markets or malls if the supply of products were not kept in balance with the demand. There are examples of balance every where we look, we are surrounded by the proof that the basic goal of the Dak~Tien Philosophy must be maintained, if we are to survive today in our modern society. It is quite possible that as man advances in technology, the simple philosophy of seeking balance in all things, is even more important to achieve today than it was in the past. So, how do we adapt the Dak~Tien Philosophy of Balance to our lifestyles of today?

First, we must accept that women and men are equal by natures design. One cannot exsist without the other. So which is stronger, smarter or faster? Which one can run faster, jump higher, stand more pain or is more intelligent the man or the woman? None of this really matters and is nothing more than a play on our egos'. What does is matter is that both are equal and are dependent upon each other to survive. This is the way nature designed it to be and anyone that believes that one is more important than the other is a fool.

The male is physically stronger. Nature has provided Him with larger muscles and bigger bulk. He has a different kind of compassion and a different driving force within than the woman. Even the thought process is different and how things are conceived. When a Man looks at a flower it is nice but of little importance. the flower to a man is a weed, or maybe food, and maybe just a bush that is in the way. The woman looks at the same flower and first thought is how beautiful it is and how nice it smells.

Another example that clearly shows natures intent is how a man and  women can look out at the distance and see the same scene, yet process it entirely different. The woman sees an adventure before her, one that often times is threatening to her security, something that is nice but can well be left alone. To the Man the scene is a challenge, something to explore, to conquer and there is a driving force within Him to Dominate all that is before Him. This driving force within the Male is pure and simple, it is Dominance! Natures' design is that the Male has all the chemical, mental, emotional and physical characteristics to Dominate and it would seem that He is the superior over the female. But, Nature needs balance to be maintained, in order for life as we know it to exsist and Man can not survive alone.

The female can endure the pain of childbirth (it would be humorous to see how a male would deal with this). She has the patience to deal with three or four children at the same time, providing for their individual needs, giving attention, compassion and the care that each and all of them require. At the same time she can maintain the home (nest) and provide for all the needs of her most demanding child, her Mate. All that the woman does with regards to this, is done by her choice. The female naturally chooses to submit and become the keeper of the home, the mother of the flock and the Dominants mate. (Is the female the weaker of the species or is she the balance?)

Everything to this point has been written to allow each to see the general concept of how the Male and female are in reality equal, with regards to being dependent upon each other. The examples to clearly see this are so numerous that one could write them for a thousand life times and still not complete the list. But, until we accept this basic concept, nothing about the Dak~Tien Philosophy will seem practical to apply to our lives today. It is much like attempting to prove which is more important, the automobile or the gasoline. Both need the other to serve their purpose. (Another example of how to apply the pilosophy to our lives today.  Trust me on this, the Dak~Tien people had no automobiles.)

Apply the concept that all must be in a constant balance to achieve inner peace to any aspect of our lives and it is easy to see how simple the Dak~Tien Philosophy blends in with our modern lifestyles. We all have certain needs that must be met in order to survive (Food, water, shelter, rest and exercise for example), we also mistakenly believe that our wants must be met to survive. Here lies the problem, to often our wants become more important to us than our needs and the result is a lifestyle that becomes so out of balance that we get lost. (This is not to say that our "wants" are a bad thing, but rather to illustrate that it is often easy to place the cart ahead of the horse, and we find that the journey through life becomes difficult.) Natures' law of balance is simple and the examples of how well it works are everywhere, the natural order is plain to see. All we have to do is open our minds and accept what our eyes let us see. Accept reality and stop confusing it with our fantasies, keep life simple and stop cluttering it with our complexities and understand that obtaining our wants is not necessary to survive, but can be obtained and our reward if we find the balance in our life.

Is it so hard to understand that when we follow Natures' law accepting that everything that is depends on something else to survive and thus we should only expect to receive (in balance with) what we give? If the center of our attention is directed to the I, me, and mine then should we not expect to become isolated? Being isolated is not and cannot be in balance. ("I do not give respect unless it is earned", but how many times do we say; "I do not expect respect unless I earn it".) The Dak~Tien philosophy shows that we should respect everything, by understanding that everything around us provides what we require to survive. When our personal burdens become overwhelming we automatically turn to another for help. Does this  not show that we as humans also accept that we need others? Now   the example that the needs of one become the needs of all comes to be clear and again Natures law applies. How do we apply the Dak~Tien Philosophy to our lives today? The real questions are, when do we not apply the Philosophy and exactly how many ways do we apply it without a thought?

"Understand and Respect Natures' Laws. Know and accept our natural limitations. Understand and accept our roles in life and our responsibilities. Understand and seek the balance in all things".
